The flag of Viesīte is based on the flag of Sēlija, with the coat of arms of Viesīte in the background. It is a rectangular fabric with three horizontal stripes in proportions 2:1:2. The colors are chosen from the colors of the "Selonija" corporation, but the proportions unite the flag of the Sēlija region with the flag of Latvia.
The coat of arms of Viesīte is one of the official symbols of the city of Viesīte. Approved on September 30, 1938. It is also used on the flag of Viesīte.
The shield of the coat of arms is diagonally divided from the upper left side. The upper part is gold-colored, the lower part is red. Five acorns are depicted on the shield, which are red on a gold background and gold on a red background. The acorns symbolize strength and fertility and show that there was once a large oak grove in the city.
