In Latvia, there are several days when the law mandates or recommends displaying the national flag.
These days can be divided into three categories:

Historical significance of the days
May 1: Labour Day and Convocation Day of the Constitutional Assembly of the Republic of Latvia
This day commemorates a significant event in Latvian history - the convocation of the Latvian Constitutional Assembly in 1920, which was a step towards strengthening the state's sovereignty and democracy.
May 4: Day of the Proclamation of the Declaration of Independence of Latvia
In 1990, the Supreme Council of Latvia adopted the declaration on the restoration of Latvia's independence, initiating the process to break free from Soviet occupation.
August 21: Day of the adoption of the Constitutional Law "On the State Status of the Republic of Latvia"
On August 21, 1991, the constitutional law was adopted, which effectively restored the sovereignty of the Republic of Latvia after the collapse of the USSR.
November 11: Lāčplēsis Day
This day is dedicated to the victory over Bermont's army near Riga on November 11, 1919, which was a decisive battle in the Latvian War of Independence.
November 18: Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia
In 1918, Latvia's independence was proclaimed, officially establishing the Republic of Latvia.
Mourning days and remembrance days
March 25 and June 14: Commemoration Days of the Victims of Communist Genocide
Dedicated to the memory of victims, remembering the mass deportations carried out by the Soviet regime against the inhabitants of Latvia.
June 17: Day of the Occupation of Latvia
Marks the events of 1940 when Latvia lost its independence, becoming part of the Soviet Union.
July 4: Commemoration Day of the Victims of the Genocide against the Jewish People
Commemorates the events of the Holocaust in Latvia during World War II.
First Sunday of December: Commemoration Day of the Victims of the Totalitarian Communist Regime's Genocide
Remembers the victims of the regime's genocide against the Latvian people.
