The coat of arms of Smiltene municipality (Divided by a low chevron cut: blue and gold. In the upper field, a silver lily and a similar lily cross; in the lower field, a cornflower in natural colours) – registered on November 30, 2022.
On June 28, 2012, at the meeting of the Smiltene Municipal Council, with a unanimous vote of the deputies, taking into account the results of the public vote, the design of the Smiltene Municipality flag was approved.
The flag is a rectangular fabric with a width to height ratio of 1:2. The ratio of the flag stripes is 3:1:3. The white stripe on the flag symbolises a path. The path runs through the middle of a yellow rye field, where Smiltene municipality has blossomed like a cornflower. In the middle of the flag, on both sides, there is a colourful coat of arms of Smiltene municipality, which is 1/3 of the flag's width. The coat of arms with the cornflower is the symbol of Smiltene municipality, where each petal represents 8 parishes and Smiltene.
The yellow area symbolises physical strength, experience, intellect, and knowledge.
The white colour on the flag symbolises peace, safety, faith, and order, which is a suitable environment for development, growth, and improvement.
