Approved on June 30, 1936.
The green shield of the coat of arms is diagonally divided by a silver band, to which another narrower silver band adjoins from the top of the shield. These bands symbolize the Daugava River and its tributary Aiviekste. A golden brick wall is the symbol of the city, placed in the upper left corner of the shield.
