The flag of Rēzekne is one of Rēzekne's official symbols, along with the coat of arms of Rēzekne. The flag consists of 2 colors - blue and white. It is divided into three parts, in a ratio of 2:1:2, with blue on the edges and white in the middle. In the center of the flag is the coat of arms of Rēzekne. The flag is often displayed vertically, for example, on lamp posts, building walls, and in other cases. The blue color in it likely indicates the city's belonging to Latgale and the symbolism of Rēzekne as the "heart of Latgale." The coat of arms of Rēzekne is one of the official symbols of the city of Rēzekne. The griffin is a huge, large, and fierce creature. In mythology, it often performs the functions of a gold guardian. It is a symbol of power, might, and speed. However, according to heraldry rules, the griffin is depicted with a sword, but in the Rēzekne coat of arms, the sword was replaced with a shield in the colors of the Latvian flag, emphasizing the city's belonging to the state. The azure background, according to heraldry rules, signifies nobility, honesty, loyalty, and impeccability.
