The coat of arms of Rūjiena Municipality was created in 2009, based on the coat of arms of Rūjiena city. Its heraldic description is as follows: "In a red field, a golden sheaf of grain with a blue ribbon tied crosswise." The municipal coat of arms depicts a sheaf of grain in a red field, as a symbol of prosperity and well-being. Grain has been cultivated in Rūjiena Municipality since ancient times and continues to be cultivated today. The blue ribbon tied crosswise symbolises the rivers – Rūja and Seda, which flow through the municipality.
