The Viesīte city flag is based on the Sēlija flag, with the Viesīte coat of arms in the background. It is a rectangular fabric with three horizontal stripes in a 2:1:2 ratio. The colors are chosen from the colors of the "Selonija" corporation, and the proportions unite the Sēlija region flag with the Latvian flag.
The Viesīte city coat of arms is one of the official symbols of Viesīte city. Approved on September 30, 1938. It is also used on the Viesīte flag.
The shield of the coat of arms is diagonally divided from the upper left side. The upper part is gold, the lower part is red. Five acorns are depicted on the shield, which are red on a gold background and gold on a red background. The acorns symbolize strength and fertility and show that the city once had a magnificent oak grove.
